In case you may have missed it, the U.S. went to Canada again, this time for the Pan American Games.  We left at the top of the medal standing with 265 (103 Gold, 81 Silver, 81 Bronze).  Canada, the host country came in second at 217 total (78 Gold, 69 Silver, 70 Bronze). More than 7,000 athletes representing 41 countries competed in 64 sport disciplines. Athletes smashed more than 80 Pan Am records and the competition attracted more than a million visitors.

Female athletes participated at the highest level ever at 45%. A highlight of the event was the debut of women’s baseball.  The U.S. claimed the gold medal in the event! This was added to the 56 other gold medals won by American female athletes.

This was an amazing event. It’s too bad that it didn’t get more national attention!
