Lindsey Vonn wins World Cup downhill at Lake Louise

This past weekend, Lindsey Vonn silenced her doubters and naysayers by winning her first World Cup skiing event in nearly two years, marking it her 60th victory of her World Cup career!

Lindsey’s breakthrough was one part of a historic sweep of the podium for the American women, with Stacey Cook finishing a fraction of a second behind her in second and their teammate Julia Mancuso finishing third. It was the first time that American men or women had swept a World Cup podium in any event!

We have to stop and consider how amazing this win was for Lindsey. It comes on the heels of her enduring a frustrating 22 months since suffering career-threatening injuries in a high speed crash at the World Championships in February 2013.  But over the weekend she returned to the top of the podium with a spectacular performance in Canada.

Those of us who never doubted her determination and resolve, look forward to her continued dominance.
