Marketing Female Athletes will be spotlighting athletes in different sports leading up to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Some of them you may have already heard about but there definitely will be many whom you’ve never heard about until here and now!
Lauryn Williams is the latest U.S. track and field Olympian to try pushing bobsleds. She joins former hurdler Lolo Jones on the USA Bobsled Team hoping to qualify for Sochi. Lauryn is a 2004 Olympic silver medalist in the 100 meters. She announced her retirement from track competition in June 2013 and touched the bobsled for the first time in July. A week later she placed third in the national push championships! The Olympic team will be named in January, though those on the national team certainly have a big leg up on the competition. It has been projected that the women’s bobsled team that will compete in Sochi will be “the fastest and most prepared group of athletes we’ve ever seen.” How exciting is that!
