Marketing Female Athletes will be spotlighting athletes in different sports leading up to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Some of them you may have already heard about but there definitely will be many whom you’ve never heard about until here and now!
What better way to stay in shape than cross country running? That’s how this week’s Athlete to Watch, Kikkan Randall, got hooked on cross country skiing.
Randall is a three-time Olympian who has racked up a number of firsts: she’s the first U.S. woman to win a World Cup title, she earned the first World Cup team sprint gold for the U.S. (with Jessie Diggins), she is the first cross country skier to win World Championships gold medal (again with Diggins in sprint), and she is the first U.S. woman to break into top-three overall in FIS Cross Country World Cup. In all, she’s a 19-time World Cup medalist and six-time U.S. Sprint Freestyle champion. Her winning record dates back to 2006 in preparation for her Olympic appearance that year. Kikkan will make this endurance sport a must-watch in Sochi!
