Marketing Female Athletes will be spotlighting athletes in different sports leading up to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Some of them you may have already heard about but there definitely will be many whom you’ve never heard about until here and now!
This week we introduce you to a sport that has not received much respect…curling! It is probably one of the least known, understood and appreciated of the winter sports, but Erika Brown is going to change all of that.
Erika is a seven-time U.S. curling champion from a family of champions. Her father is a three-time U.S. men’s curling champion and a two-time mixed national champion with her mom, Dane. He currently coaches the U.S. Paralympic wheelchair curling team that recently qualified for Sochi. Her brother, Craig, is a two-time U.S. champion. Between the four of them, they have won 26 national curling championships. But Erika aims to do even better. She is the skipper of the team that has been named the U.S.A. Curling’s 2013 “Team of the Year” and she’s determined to have her team of women curlers lead the U.S. team at Sochi. She will surely bring much deserved respect for the sport, her team and herself by going for the gold!
