Marketing Female Athletes will be spotlighting athletes in different sports leading up to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Some of them you may have already heard about but there definitely will be many whom you’ve never heard about until here and now!
This week, we would like to introduce you to teenage superpipe star Arielle Gold.
Arielle started snowboarding when she was just seven years old. Now, at sixteen, she is the reigning snowboard halfpipe world champion. She first exploded on the scene in 2012 at the inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria where she won silver medals in slopestyle and halfpipe. Later that year she won gold in halfpipe at the FIS Junior World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain. 2013 looks to be a breakout year for her. She took the podium at nearly every competition she entered and went on to place third at the X Games in Aspen, jumping over her competitive peers who are five to thirteen years older. Her stellar season performance earned her a spot on the U.S. Snowboarding pro team. She has quickly become America’s hope for gold in Sochi!
