Marketing Female Athletes will be spotlighting athletes in different sports leading up to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Some of them you may have already heard about but there definitely will be many whom you’ve never heard about until here and now!
This week, we would like to highlight Sarah Hendrickson, the 18-year-old ski jumping phenom from Salt Lake City.
At the young age of 18, standing 5’4’’ and weighing only 95lbs, Sarah is already challenging athletes much older than she is by out-jumping them and making history! She has already won a U.S. title, a World Championship gold medal and a World Cup globe making her one of the youngest skiers ever! In the beginning of 2013 instead of being hampered by an off-season knee surgery, with extremely limited training, she defied all odds and went on to win the World Ski Championships gold medal and finished second overall in the World Cup standings. Sarah sees the 2014 Games in Sochi as her chance, along with her teammates Lindsey Van and Jessica Jerome, to make more history by winning the first-ever Olympic gold medal awarded in women’s ski jumping.
